In the laser rotation we had to complete 3 different projects the notebook, water bottle and 2d to 3d object. I made the notebook by starting in illustrator and making a designs. then took it down to the laser to cut it out. Every thing went smooth operating the laser. I went through all of the settings and made sure I was good to go. I cut it out and right after I picked it up I knew something wasn't right the size of the back was not right it was too small. I went back into illustrator to make the changes then cut it out. I used the hole punch to make the holes for the notebook.
The water bottle had practically the same steps as the notebook but it was slightly harder to cutout. It started in illustrator with a design that is brought down to the laser and cut out. the cutting and engraving is slightly harder because you have to put the water bottle in a rotational jig. All things considered it went well.
The 2d to 3d was the hardest to design because all of the pieces had to line up perfectly. I could have just found one to cutout online but I thought that is no fun. I chose to make a plane that the wings slide through the body and the airfoils slide onto the wing. After the designing you do the same poses to cut everything out.
In the laser rotation I learned how to cut at different speeds and powers to optimize the capability's of the laser. I also learned how to use a rotary jig on the big laser. Most importantly I got a lot better at using illustrator.
